Nei-chi Tao Sheng Association

Nei-chi Tao Sheng means the inner way to peaceful development by using the power of the Yi (mind).

The association was formed by Mr. J. Holt in conjunction with Mrs. K. Duckett who was a teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga.

One of the first principals in the study of Nei-Chi is learning how to calm one’s mind. It is a ‘meditation by movement’ art form. The meditation is the inward motivation and the movement is the outward expression.

If one learns how to relax and totally control the body to be responsive to minute stimuli (this acute sensitivity is known as ‘Shu’), then one can use the will or mind, rather than physical power to move the body with good co-ordination.

The result of this will be a central nervous system which will function calmly and harmoniously – thus a ‘meditation by movement’.

The Nei-Chi Tao-Sheng is based on principals and theories from the Japanese Zen Buddhism, Chinese Chan Bossism, Hindu Mysticism and the highly developed exercises from the Tibetan Yogi, Taoism and Hatha Yoga and has been extended and developed from these by Mr. J. Holt.

Therefore, the system is not traditional Tai Chi, or Tai Chi Ma style or Wu style. It is quite simply Mr. Holt’s personal style, Nei Chi, which is development emanating from all these other systems.
